loving every sign archetype (and human)
It’s been both amazing and painful to see my awareness of the human spectrum illuminated through my deeper astrological studies. Developing a clearer view of the archetypes within each and every one of us has given me greater compassion and understanding, but it’s also highlighted my desire to fix. My inner perfectionist has never been so loud or front of mind. I can see the reasons for that in my chart and in my upbringing/psychological profile. I can witness it, but try as I might, I can’t seem to dissolve it entirely.
It feels as though self-awareness truly can be a blessing and a curse. I believe, in truth, it’s always a blessing. But from the lens of the ego-mind, it’s just uncomfy and less than ideal. We all wrestle with that.
I’m forever grateful for the tool of astrology to help me hold my humanity and to honor others in theirs. Transits and progressions have been revealing the beauty of our highly individualized, ever-unfolding journey through life. We really all do have our own timeline, methods of processing, moments of awakening, and pressure-cooker phases.
Maybe it’s also that astrology is giving me more permission than ever before to let go of the crippling guilt I can feel for existing, for ever hurting another, for ever handling a situation poorly, or not knowing a better way yet. Without our quirks and idiosyncrasies, we wouldn’t have the contrast required to uphold this life-on-earth experience. At least, that’s how it seems.
There are qualities that rub us all the wrong way in one another and in ourselves. Elements we wish were communicated or expressed differently.
Perhaps God knew we would struggle with our differences and our desire to fix, control, or generalize, and so we were gifted a system to help us understand.
the magic of individuality
While the noise in our minds around comparison can roar incessantly, maybe the work was never about erasing our differences, conforming, or shrinking. Instead, astrology calls us to acknowledge the vast constellation of our own incarnation and path as a human on earth. Astrology gives us language to hear each other in those different approaches and eyes to see the beauty.
Instead, cultural norms and pop astrology often condemn certain signs, focusing on the shadow elements and creating shame, guilt, or fear.
Nature creates everything with balance and intention, and I believe God does too. Each and every one of us is made up of so many nuances, a wide array of signs and various layers that alter the flavors of those signs (houses, aspects, degrees, heliacal risings/settings, progressions, transits, etc. etc.)
We are made of the deep. Whether or not we each prefer to play there. Surface-level assumptions or stereotypes do each of us a disservice, and in my experience, I’m just as guilty of applying that to myself as I am to others.
It’s a practice for me each day to remember that choosing to act from love, rather than the ego-mind, doesn’t eliminate my personality quirks, individual approach and desires, and human self who is wholly unique. We are all just as special. Our world just doesn’t naturally support or nurture us to shine that unique special light, the one that only we can bring through to humanity.
My uniqueness may rub others the wrong way at times, and that’s okay. Someone else’s natural way of communicating, processing, or moving through the world may feel totally wrong to me, that’s just as well. There is no right way to be human or live life. However, I do believe there is a right way designed only for us… one that is our own expression of the most loving, courageous, authentic, generous, and aligned life we could live. It’s our own hero/heroine’s journey to find that path and honor it.
