deepening my relationship to astrology

What a joy ride. I’ve embarked this year on a deep journey through the underground tunnels of astrology. The mycelium of the cosmos. I’ve curated my own little curriculum to navigate these seas, and to say I’m giddy with enthusiasm, curiosity, and wonder is an understatement.

Jules Ferrari Astrology School

One of the first phases of this journey was enrolling in Astrology School: Level One with the legendary Jules Ferrari. Her nuanced, scientific, and intuitive understanding of this language has been an inspiration for years, as I’ve soaked up her wisdom from the shadows. I’m honored to be learning directly from one of the greats in our generation of modern mystics.

In a workshop, she laid out this epic visual that resonated so deeply. It also made me smile at the synchronicity of my pull toward spirals (in water, seashells, smoke) for poros. There is meaning in everything, if we listen, if we look. If we want there to be, I suppose.

She said -

“Conscious awareness = experiencing the natal chart as a spiral. Each year as the sun (your life experience) moves through the chart, you move upward, ascending in a spiral through the maturity of the chart.”

Yes. That’s always how astrology has felt to me, yet I never had those particular words to encapsulate the experience. We are spiraling through this cosmic blueprint, both on a personal level as we “age” and move through the seasons and transits of our own chart, and on a collective level as the seasons of the calendar cycle on and on.

Since time is just a construct, an illusion within spacetime, it makes sense that our ability to sense growth, transformation, change, loss or gain would require a system like this. Whether we are merely tuned into the Gregorian calendar or whether we attune to the subtler realms available in our natal chart. Choosing which path appears entirely optional.

Everything is spiraling in an ascension path

This spiral pathway view of our natal chart is the dance of our lifetime; it’s the expansion and refinement of our conscious awareness.

Whether we look to DNA, the flow of energy through the chakras, musical scales, plant life, smoke, water, shells, or bird flight paths, sacred geometry is everywhere. Perfect in its intelligent design.

The spiral is a foundational element of sacred geometry, representing infinite expansion, growth, evolution, and the interconnectedness of the micro and macro cosmos. Often associated with the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio ( ϕ≈1.618phi is approximately equal to 1.618 𝜙≈1.618), it reflects the natural, harmonious patterns found in shells, hurricanes, galaxies, and DNA.

So hearing Jules describe the natal chart through this lens clicked instantly. We are handed this cosmic curriculum for our experience of life on earth, but what we do with it and how we work with it is entirely up to us. And how life circumstances color our view of ourselves, therefore filter our clear awareness of these energies, is the piece *seemingly, out of our control.

This particular coloring of a chart gives our human avatar a sense of separation; it adds necessary contrast to this illusion of you vs. me so that I can know myself, and create myself anew. The life experiences thrown our way are the additional coloring that further tint our chart, a co-creation unfolds.

I’m seeing astrology as yet another layer of the mental construct upholding this earthly 3D experience, giving us the ability to understand ourselves, remember our true nature, and love our shadows through another. A beautiful language - full of letters and words that we can use to write any story we wish. A collection of musical notes to compose any song. A palette of colors to paint any picture on the canvas.

As I move through my studies this year, I’ll be sharing reflections and ah-ha moments tickling my brain in this space. I’m thinking I may break down my self-composed curriculum next, for anyone curious.
